Nearly three years ago life handed me (Nikki) one of the hardest things I’ve ever dealt with. I was diagnosed with a horrific illness called clostridium difficile (or c diff). But one amazing thing that came out of that dark time was meeting Jeannie, a lovely mama of five, in an online support group for c diff victims and survivors. We instantly clicked. Soon we were texting and messaging each other multiple times a day—through relapses, medication side effects, the PTSD that illness can sometimes bring—we were always there for one another. Thankfully we both got better, and we’ve talked almost every day since! But we had never met in person…until Jeannie’s daughter Maddie needed senior portraits done.
Maddie is a talented photographer so when Jeannie told us she not only loved our work, she actually wanted US to do her senior portraits, as well as her sister Kylie’s, we were incredibly honored to say the least!
They drove SIX hours from their home just to have us do their session, and finally seeing Jeannie in person was like being reunited with family. It quickly became clear that Maddie & Kylie (along with their sister, Chloe, who made a fabulous assistant!) were just as kind and beautiful as their mama.
The girls wanted a water/boardwalk theme so to mix it up, we started at Fisherman’s Cove and then hit up the Point Pleasant Boardwalk. Once we got to the boardwalk, it was time for cotton candy and games! The girls rocked it and even won some prizes. We had so much fun! We finished off the session with a few night portraits.
Life may hand us tough times, but when we find the blessings in them, it makes them easier to endure. Thank you, Jeannie, for being one of those blessings. And thank you Maddie & Kylie for choosing us!
