On Black Friday, countless people hit the stores for sales. Not us! We hit the beach with Kelsey and Phil for their engagement session. We had such a blast with these two! Phil proposed at the Manasquan Inlet, so they knew they wanted to incorporate it into their session and, since Fisherman’s Cove was close by, we decided that two locations was better than one.
Falling in Love
Their love story is fun and sweet, just like them. We’ll let them take it from here!
How, and when, did you meet?
Kelsey: We originally met in Atlantic City back in 2011 or 2012. Friends wanted to set us up, so we met and really hit it off. Then I blew him off and nothing ever happened with us. In December of 2016 we were both randomly in Red Bank and that same friend told me Phil was coming to The Downtown and reintroduced us. We talked for maybe all of three minutes before my friends wanted to leave. I was not going to let him pass me up this time, so I messaged him.
What were your first impressions of each other?
Kelsey: My first impression in 2011 was that he was a really great guy, and really attractive too! Fast forward to 2016, when I heard he was coming to The Downtown, I got excited because I found out that he was single but I was also nervous because of what happened years before. When I saw him he definitely was still SO attractive and surprisingly so polite to someone who blew him off!
Phil: Wow, she’s still so beautiful! (We didn’t get to talk much when we met again.)
Tell us all about the proposal:
Kelsey: Phil proposed on September 21, 2017. We got up early to go to the Manasquan Inlet to see the sunrise with our dog, Lyman. We were walking along the beach, and before I knew it Phil was on his knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him.
What are you most looking forward to about your big day?
Kelsey: I am looking forward to Phil seeing me in my dress and getting married to the love of my life.
Phil: I can’t wait to see her walk down the aisle. I’m going to lose my shit! And I can’t wait to call her my wife.
What advice do you have for other engaged couples?
Kelsey: Do what makes you happy, and don’t lose the meaning of why you are getting married.
Phil: Enjoy it! And don’t just settle on wedding plans. You’re only going to do this once so do it just as you want it.
Thank you, Kelsey and Phil! We can’t wait for your wedding this summer at The Asbury Hotel!
