Right at the start of Erin & TJ’s engagement session at the The Barns at Locust Hall, they kicked off their shoes…literally. Yup, they did their session barefoot. And that right there should give you some insight into how down-to-earth and fun they are.
It was while we chatted about how they met, that we learned the two go back…way back. “TJ has been friends with my older brother Tommy since third grade, and I was childhood friends with TJ’s sister Kimmy,” Erin told us. But the two never dated. Until… “One night in a local bar, my younger brother Keith said, ‘Hey, Erin, do you remember TJ?’”
The night TJ proposed (he’d received Erin’s father’s blessing earlier that day) he sent Erin out to his truck as a distraction. That’s when he turned on their favorite song (“Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton), and set up a camera. “When I came back inside, he called me into our living room and got down on one knee!” Erin said. “It was so very special—just us and our two dogs.”
They decided on the Barns at Locust Hall as their wedding venue, which also made it the perfect spot for their session. It’s a gem of a location! From the historic main house and barn, rows of peach and apple trees, and sunflower field—we had a blast exploring all it had to offer. “Our cheeks hurt from laughing,” Erin said. “Riding around the venue in a golf cart with you guys, hearing you tell us how good we were doing, just hanging out with you both—it was something we had never done and you two made it so fun and easy!”
What’s Erin most looking forward to about their wedding day? “Having a good time with all of our family and friends, dancing, drinking, and ‘changing my last name’ according to TJ!”
We know it’ll be just as fun as these two are. Can’t wait!
